Where will we land?
Balloons cannot be steered, but simply fly with the wind. We only know the approximate direction, not the exact landing point, making each morning unique. That's part of the excitement!
When is the best time to fly?
Summer weekends are the most popular, but Spring and Autumn can produce some of the best flying conditions, and views of the changing colours of the countryside. Due to unpredictable weather we do not fly in the months of July and August.
What time of day do we fly?
Balloon flights are made in the early morning when the winds are at their calmest. The time varies throughout the seasons as with the daylight hours. We meet approximately 1 hour before sunrise.
What should I wear?
Dress for an outdoor adventure. Ladies, please do not wear high heels. Sturdy footwear is recommended as we often take off in dewy fields, as well as a hat for those who may be ' thin on top ' as the burner creates quite a lot of radiant heat. It is just as warm in the sky as on the ground - the same clothes as one would wear to go out on the day for a walk, will be quite adequate.
Can friends watch the take-off?
Friends and family are welcome to come along and watch the balloon take off. They may also follow the balloon with the ground crew (on a space available basis) or follow along in their own cars and hopefully watch the balloon land.
Am I insured?
We carry Air Carriers Liability Act Insurance up to $500,000 per passenger and $5,000,000 combined single limit legal liability.
Where do we fly from?
We have a large number of launch sites within a 360° radius of the Camden Airfield. Each morning the launch site is chosen depending on the local wind conditions of that day.
How safe is ballooning?
The answer is, very safe. Hot air ballooning has the best safety record of any form of flying. We only fly when conditions are safe, our pilots are highly qualified and all are commercially licensed by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority.
